Missed calls are a revenue problem, not a phone problem

Most businesses treat unanswered calls as an annoyance. Priced properly, it's usually the largest untracked leak in the funnel.

A missed call is a lead that already raised its hand. It arrived with intent, chose the phone over a form, and then met silence. Nothing about that is neutral — most callers move to the next result rather than trying again later.

Before automating anything, price the leak. Take your unanswered inbound calls for a month, multiply by your call-to-customer rate and your average customer value. That number is the budget the problem has already justified.

Only then decide what to change. Sometimes the fix is staffing or routing. Often it's an AI voice agent covering overflow and after-hours, because those calls currently convert at zero.

Start narrow: one workflow, one measurable outcome, transcripts reviewed weekly. Expand once the recovered-lead number is real rather than projected.
